Mission

Breakthrough energy technologies and revolutionary catalysis require fundamentally new approaches for discovering and developing catalytic systems of high reactivity and selectivity. The innovations in catalysis, including thermochemical, electrochemical, and photochemical transformations, commonly require precise and predictive molecular-level control over inner-sphere bond rearrangement and/or charge-transfer reactions occurring at solid-liquid interfaces. Ryu group aims to seek this essential interfacial science using tools from physical electrochemistry, inorganic chemistry, material chemistry, and analytic chemistryIn doing so, Ryu group will establish a new mechanistic framework in which unconventional means of modulating electrified interfaces enable unprecedented controls over challenging catalysis towards value-added chemicals and synthesis of functional materials and interfaces pertinent to versatile energy applications.
